General

What is the StellarPlex system?
The StellarPlex system is a Structured Wiring System that manages and distributes all of the electonic signaling within your home by controling the telephone, fax, modem, all high-speed internet access, computer networking, satellite, cable TV and/or Off-Air antenna while integrating your home theater systems, security system, heating and air conditioning, lighting control system, and home automation. The three components of the StellarPlex system are the ComCenter, the cabling, and the structured wiring outlets throughout your house.

The StellarPlex ComCenter is the control center for your home. The cabling for incoming services such as telephone, cable TV, satellite, etc. enter the StellarPlex ComCenter and are distributed to cabling connected to the structured wiring outlets throughout your home. This method of "home run" wiring allows you to easily configure the telephone, video, and computer signals in each room thereby "futurizing" your home for new technologies.

"Why is it so critical that I have my home wired with the StellarPlex system?"
In the Information Age, new products and services are becoming available to the residential market every day. Products and services such as satellite TV, home theater, DVD players, cable modems, DSL modems, and the Internet have created the need to improve the wiring and connectivity in the home. As technology continues to improve and new services are being offered, you will need to be able to integrate these new technologies into your home. By running the wiring your home to one central point, the StellarPlex system makes it easy to interface with today's technology, but more importantly, the StellarPlex system "futurizes" your home allowing you to integrate future technologies.

Will the StellarPlex system add value to my home?
The StellarPlex systems add improved accessability and enjoyment to your home while you live there, and add increased value to your home should you ever decide to sell. It also gives you "bragging rights" to an intelligent home that is ready for today's technologies and "futurized" for tomorrow.

What is a structured wiring outlet?
A structured wiring outlet is a multimedia outlet. There are currently four levels of structured wiring outlets. Level 1 consists of (1) Coaxial cable (RG-6) and (1) CAT-5 cable. Level 2 consists of (2) Coaxial cables (RG-6) and (1) CAT-5 cable. Level 3 consists of (2) CAT-5 cables. Level 4 consists of (2) Coaxial cables (RG-6) and (2) CAT-5 cables.

What are video inputs and outputs?
The video portion of the StellarPlex system is based on a dual coax cable run. The video inputs are for video devices such as a VCR or DVD player that are to be displayed throughout the video system (Note: This may require a modulator). The video inputs are combined with the source signals such as Off-air antenna or cable and distributed to the video outputs. The video outputs are the ports to which the TV's in the house are connected in order to view the distributed video.

Modulators

What is a modulator?
A modulator is a device that receives baseband audio and video signals from a source (VCR, DVD, camera, etc.) and translates them into standard TV RF channels. They are used to modulate a signal from a source to an unused CATV or UHF channel for viewing on a TV.

How do I connect a video device in order to view it throughout the house?
Whole house viewing of a video signal requires a modulator. Devices such as VCRs and satellite receivers come with built in modulators; that's the Channel 3/Channel 4 switch on the back of the units. There are two problems using the built in modulators. First, the power output level on the VCR is low and does not have enough power to feed the entire home. Secondly, there is probably a pre-existing channel on either channel 3 or channel 4. You cannot have two different signals sharing a channel. A dedicated modulator is the answer.

Cameras

Can I have a camera that is viewable throughout the house?
Yes, the StellarPlex cameras have built-in modulators and are designed to be viewed on any TV connected to the video portion of the system.
